This is my first raglan sweater ever. I’ve learnt to knit sweaters long time ago, but raglans (especially from top to down) looked super terrorizing for me… So I came up with some ideas to make me feel better about actually starting learning how to knit them, and this is what I came out with:

This took me time, I’ve check out several books and blogs, I was putting the information piece by piece and then practicing in calculating the stitches and actually knitting.

I swear I better knit millions of different parts and then connect them together!

The idea looked great to me – you knit a sweater from up till down, you don’t need to connect all the pieces together afterwards and so on… but I found myself saying too many swear words while knitting, because of the incomfortability the weight gives. I swear now I better knit millions of different parts and then connect them together instead of knitting the whole piece and positioning it better on the knees all time.

Of course you can knit the raglan with separate details and then connect them. But I needed to learn all parts at once, and better the most difficult ones, hehe! Yeah! So I’ve knitted a raglan from top to down (with the back neck higher than the front), and I felt an obligation to make a side seam (you can see an improved raglan without side seam here), becasue I felt that it won’t just work well for my chest. I added some extra volume for the front part, so it won’t jump up all the time…so, I think

No! I’m sure that for the curvy and voluminous figure raglan sweaters are not the best option.

No! I’m sure that for the curvy and voluminous figure raglan sweaters are not the best option. For me it is not an option at all. it doesn’t actually show my curves in a beautiful way, I mean it makes the chest look smaller but at the same time adds volume to the stomach area..phhh (I keep on wearing my turquoise, just because I love how it looks with my eyes and the defect is not seen much under the jacket…) But I am not knitting any raglans any more and never ever again, lol

I’ve knitted the Milky Sweater just to make sure that I didn’t make any mistakes and the actually it is raglan’s fault that it doesn’t look as good on me as i was aiming it to.

However if you need some guidence feel free to ask in the comments, I think I still have the information in my head and didn’t erase it complitely (it usually happens after a huge deception)..
